Homestay Applicants
For over ten years we have being inviting people to stay in our home.
With this experience with people from all over the world we hope that through our example, that other homes in Canada will also become more open and understanding to new experiences and cultures.
There is no book or course you can take to make your family a "homestay" family but at Canadian Home Vacations we do have some simple guidelines that must be followed to have a great experience.
The most important is they be treated like one of your own family!!!
I cannot stress this enough. Coming from a different country and feeling alienated in your new home is not a pleasant feeling.
That your guest have there own personal space and time to relax and unwind. That includes time for a long shower and or bath.
That they have a choice to be included on outings and social gatherings. Nobody likes to be forced to do something they don`t want too.
Your guest will most likely always have a pen, paper and dictionary handy. If your not communicating properly sit down and take the time to get your message across.
Be a good listener! Your guest might not be the best at communicating in the English language so patience and understanding must always be practiced.
These simple guidelines will make the experience a rewarding one for both the guest and the families.
The families you see on the Clients page have gone through a screening process that ensures that the guest has a wonderful and life changing experience at there homestay.
If you wish to become a homestay family please call or email any one of us on the contact page.
